The Southern Living Taste of Charleston - Main Event

Join us for 2014 Southern Living Taste of Charleston!

This year will mark the 34th anniversary of the Lowcountry’s culinary event of the year, The Southern Living Taste of Charleston, hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, Inc (GCRA).  A 3-day event showcasing taste-tempting delights served by Charleston restaurants.

Main Event:

Historic Boone Hall Plantation is transformed into a sea of culinary enchantment!  50 of the Lowcountry’s  favorite casual and fine dining restaurants serving sample size portions + beer and wine.  Highlights of the Main Event include: specialty and imported beer tasting tent, live music with the Dave Landeo Band, the legendary “Waiters’ Race” and the “Kid’s Kitchen Sideshow.” Food and drink tickets are sold separately with food ranging from $2-$6, Pepsi products and bottled water for $2, domestic beer for $4, and specialty beer and wine for $6. Children 10 and under are free. Rain or Shine. No Pets, Coolers or Tailgating. Free Parking. Please Carpool.

Kid’s Kitchen Sideshow:

Children are invited to attend a variety of free activities during the Main Event. The “Kid’s Kitchen Sideshow” includes a Pots and Pans Percussion Play area, a Craft Studio, Sing-a-Longs with Miss Irene Rose, hooping, a Balloon Kitchen, J.U.G.L – the Juggling and Unicycling Group of the Lowcountry, food-themed games, hands-on pasta making, a bubble play area, photo opportunities, a jump castle, face painting, and more! Kids will also be treated to special appearances by Corey the Stilt Chef and Ronald McDonald.

Shuttle Service:

Shuttle service is available for pickup and for drop-off from two downtown Charleston locations and from two Mount Pleasant locations for the Main Event. Click here for a detailed schedule and pricing.

Taste: Sweet & Southern on Charleston Harbor

Join us for an intimate evening on Historic Charleston Harbor. This event will feature performances by Hank Futch & Phillip Lammonds while guests enjoy some delicious Southern fare from Swig & Swine, Middleton Place RestaurantGraze, and the Culinary Institute of Charleston.

Taste: Iron Chef Competition

A showcase of local chefs in a heated head-to-head battle in the Culinary Institute of Charleston’s state-of-the-art amphitheater kitchen. After the secret ingredient is announced, the chefs will have 45 minutes to create and cook at least 4 dishes to be judged by our panel of experts.
